During the climax of the novel the missionaries came to Umuofia to share the word of God. This particular event discouraged okonkwo and cause him to anger. The missionaries were destroying the culture which okonkwo had love for. How can a stranger come into someone’s house and don’t respect it. This is what the novel demonstrates by the missionaries coming into the village.
I can imagine the thoughts that were running fierce throughout Okonkwo mind. Through my perspective I can imagine the devastation that the missions had brought upon his culture. The missions have put a sharp knife to the things that held Umuofia together. Okonkwo was thinking on how he can reunite his village and culture back together.

When the missionary came to Umuofia there was great fear in the atmosphere. I can see the village right now filled with bewilderment. When the missions came to the village they came to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now the village of Umuofia was totally against this whole perspective. This caused the people of Umuofia to drive the mission as far away as possible.
There was a translator between both the Umuofia’s and the missionary. I knew that the village didn’t want this white man faith to be spread throughout the tribe. This bothered the leaders of Umuofia, and they decided to give the missions land at the entrance of the Evil Forest. The novel clearly demonstrates to us that the Umuofians didn’t want the missions among them.

The missions had been among the people of Umuofia for a while now. The gospel has spread over the village and many villagers of Umuofia converted to the white man’s faith. The new faith began to develop in the village and new convert’s found overwhelming confidence in their new God. The novel shows the audience this by telling us what happened to the three converts boasting.
The novel shows the audience how the citizens felt about the new coverts boasting with confidence in their new religion. This was a disgrace for the people who lived and died for the sake of their religion. This is a powerful event that occurred through the later chapters of the novel. So for their arrogance the officials arrested them and torture the new converts until they drew blood.

The novel demonstrates how much the men in the village of Umuofia took pride in their heritage. The hair of a man of Umuofia represented everything that he was. When the new converts decided to come to the trinity God they had to shave their heads. This very point of the novel was very intense for me to even handle. I was thinking in the back of my mind how the new converts could shave their past off.
It took a while to cut the hair off, but eventually they fully converted to the trinity God. This is one of the most significant events in the novel. The adherents of the new Faith were excluded from the life and privileges of the clan. I am going to use this piece of information in my up coming essay. The author clearly shows the audience all what the new converts had to go through in order to become a Christian

Okonkwo had a going away festival to celebrate his going back home to his father’s village. The years have passed and Okonkwo was truly ready to go back to his homeland. This was a day that he was waiting to come for years. I could only imagine what was going through his mind at the time he was about to head home.
On the way home Okonkwo was thinking about all the years that have past, and what would he be remembered for when he returned home. Would he still have the representation of the greatest wrestler throughout all villages? Or would he be a man remembered for killing an innocent kid at a funeral? This must have been a re occurring thought running dangerously throughout his mind.

This idea comes at the end of the novel expressing what the white man has done to Umuofia culture, and language. I can consider Okonkwo’s feelings towards the missionary. They have destroyed everything that he had lived for.
The quote goes on to explain to the audience the emotion that ran fierce throughout Umuofia. “He has put a knife on the things that held us together and we have fallen apart. This is where the title of the novel received its meaning. As reading this quote it sounds like Okonkwo is on the path of giving up.

When I read through this particular event I was bewildered. I couldn’t grasp the meaning of this scene first time. Enoch, the son of the priest, who was believed to have killed and eaten the sacred python. This is very ignorant for him to perform. I couldn’t understand why he killed the sacred python.
By performing this ignorant act, Enoch touched off the greatest conflict between the church and the clan. Why would someone bring a problem that would result in a division? From my perspective Enoch was trying to make a statement loud and clear. I know for a fact that his voice was heard loud and clear.

Enoch started the greatest conflict between the clan and the church. He even killed the sacred python which was a very dangerous situation. While reading a little further in the novel I see how Enoch killed an ancestral spirit. Enoch ran for his life because he knew that he would be killed if the remaining ancestral spirits caught up to him.
While the ancestral spirits were searching for Enoch, he hid himself inside the missionary church. The egwugwa then destroyed the church. By this point in the novel I was nearly blinking my eyes. His clan had turned their backs on him, and he was left feeling alone. One day a messenger of the missionary crossed paths with the forceful Okonkwo. Without hesitation Okonkwo killed the messenger and ran for his life.
Now the missionary was in search for Okonkwo until they found him. As I proclaimed earlier, Okonkwo had nothing to live for so I have come to the conclusion on what he is about to perform next. Okonkwo hangs himself on a tree on the last page.

During the cool of the evening everybody was at the market enjoying their selves. With in a couple of moments huge amounts of white men appeared out of no where and whipped out Abame. This was a very disastrous evening for the villagers of Abame. I can feel their hurts and plain for the lost of so many lives in the village.
When I think about the disaster that occurred in Abame I think back to our own country. This was a very stressful and full of emotion scene for me to even handle. This was a very bad decision that the white man made in order to contain some control. This scene would always cross my mind when I think about this novel.

This was a much unexpected surprise performed by his close friend, but he didn’t come to celebrate; he came to tell him that his son was now Christian
This must have crushed poor Okonkwo’s soul. This must have been a disgrace to his very soul to figure out his son serves another God. I can reason with Okonkwo attitude because I will feel the same way if my son turned to another religion.

This is a very disgraceful scence in the entire novel. Nwoye denies Okonkwo as he’s father. This must be some disturbing news to Okonkwo, because this is his own flesh and blood. It must had been very hard for Okonkwo to see his son turn to another God, and then turn his back against him. I take this as a very disgraceful scence I read throughout the entire novel.
When I reflect on his scence I consider how important Nwoye was to Okonkwo. This is very disappointing to see a family spilt up do to the service of two different Gods. This is were things start to fall apart.. I wonder would Okonkwo had killed his son if he wasn’t so close to him.

Unlike any other village in any of the surrounding areas Umuofia, Umuofia had twelve egwugwa sprits representing each tribe. This was the supreme judges of all the village of Umuofia. If there was any situation to hard for the officials of Umuofia to handle, they send them to the twelve representing tribe leaders, and Judges.
There was so much respect for the twelve representing spirits of the tribes. The Evil Forest represents the village of Umueru, or the children of Eru. There were significant amounts of praises and honor being presented to the twelve spirits. The Evil Forest represented the end of the world, and total darkness flooded the sky at night time.

There was once a story about a bird which had a lot of meaning behind it. The bird name was Tortoise. This particular bird didn’t have no wings as most birds did. He heard of a upcoming feast that he was so desiring to attend, but he had no wings to get there.
So Tortoise gathered the fellow birds up and explained how he was a changed bird. So the birds all agreed to each give him a wing so that he can create two wings. When the feast of the sky arrived Tortoise went happily with the all the other birds. So lustfully at majority of the food, and the fellow birds all grumbled under their breath. While attending the funeral of Ezedu Okonkwo accidently killed Ezeuda. Ezeuda innocent blood lay up in a puddle of blood which cried uncontrollably. It has been a couple of days since Lkemefuna was killed by Okonkwo. This has been a distressful and full of emotion week. Okonkwo couldn’t sleep because of what happened to Lkemefuna. Serious regret would flood through Okonkwo’s mind so fiercely. He would loose sleep for days for his lost mind killing a innocent lad for pride sake.
When the officials of Umuofia came to arrest Lkemefuna and take him to the execution location, the officer hit the young lad on the head, and then the young lad ran to Okonkwo. Okonkwo didn’t want to be looked upon as a weak man so he killed Lkemefuna. An innocent little lad’s blood was on a cautious, and prideful mans hands.

She was cursed by an ageing spirits that manifest itself in human flesh to die early, and young. This is a repeated cycle of what the spirits do in order to make a family tear and be depressed.
Nine out of ten children that Ekwefi consumed died at an early and young age. Ezinma was very ill and was dying of poor health. This very incident poured out fear on a worried mother’s heart. They treated her with all they could and hoped for the best for their daughter.

So the cause of her being so ill was because she hid her iyi-uwa. So when times were rough Okonkwo and Ekwefi went to the expert doctor Okagbue. This was a rare case for the expert doctor and a really challenging one.
So Okagbue asked Ezinma where her iyi-uwa was and she led him on a serious adventure to find her iyi-uwa. She told the doctor that it was hidden in the Evil Forest. It was a long a trying day and at every moment Ezinma was getting worse by the moment. So eventually she led the doctor to the hole which she buried her iyi-uwa. They would the iyi-uwa and eventually a couple of days later she began to fill better.

Okonkwo and all the women in his compound were inside the hunt preparing the evening feast that was set for dawn. Okonkwo then decided it will be a good time to go outside with his son and do some harvesting labor. It was a normal day like all other days in the village of Umuofia. Then in a twinkling of an eye darkness covered the city like darkness covers space.
It looked like rain was about to shower down in a fierce and hostile way. Then a thought ran dangerously through Okonkwo wandering mind. It looked like darkness has covered the whole Umuofia village, but the thunderous sounds of citizen’s impacted Okonkwo whole thought. It seems like locust have come to Umuofia.

Lkemefuna was a young and well loved child. He was a like a foster child in a huge family. He grew to have a very close and desirable relationship with his master Okonkwo. Okonkwo felt like Lkemefuna was his very handsome and well grown son.
The council of Umuofia decided to kill Lkemefuna. Okonkwo felt like a sword just stabbed him in his giant heart. It was the most emotional scene in this novel. It was the furthest thought from my imagination that he would be killed. I believe that Lkemefuna deserved to live among the Umuofia citizens, and enjoy a happy and prospering life.

The officers of Umuofia went to arrest Lkemefuna so they can take him into the Forest and execute him. When the officers came to yield the young lad, the whole Okonkwo family felt the spirit of depression come over them. They really love Lkemefuna and only wished for the best for the young lad.
On the way to the Forest the officers were beating and mocking the young lad. Lkemefuna knew that his trip back to his original family would never come to past. He felt a horrible feeling inside him telling him this might be his very last trip. I can only imagine the thoughts that were running through the young lads lost mind. Eventually the officers hit lkemefuna with the deadly weapon, and the young lad ran fiercely to his foster father and Okonkwo killed Lkemefuna.

Normally the adults of the village didn’t show no interest in the young people wrestling matches, but this particular wrestling event cause them to become excited in their hearts. Chielo was the priestess of Agbala and was a young lady. Chielo came to the Okonkwo compound to visit the very ill Ezinma. Chielo then asked Ekwefi could she take her daughter for a couple of minutes. Then she took the very ill Ezinma to the Oracle Hill Cave when they went inside for a while. Ekwefi followed close behind to hinder anything from happening to her only child Ezinma.
Chielo was a very close friend with Ekwefi. Chielo was a window with two children. Then out came Chielo and Ezinma from the Cave to head back to the village of Umuofia. Chielo brought Ezinma back to her bed and then she departed.

This is the account of the great battle of the two young leaders of the village. It was well past dusk when all the wrestling began. The battle began and the two young leaders bounce in circles. Both of the young men where well known in the village, therefore they knew most of each others stunts.
The battle was very fierce while the blood of the people watching ran cold through their veins. The volume of the crowed was so great that it violently swallowed the drummer’s beats. This was a very enjoyable fight for all the elders, and citizens of the village. The battle was long and exciting. Unfortunately Okafo defeated Amadiora at the very last stunt.

The week of peace is a rare a sacred week in the Umuofia village. This week was dedicated to the gods and goddess in the villages. When this week approached there were no criminal acts to be preformed. This week was set aside to be a holy week, and if anybody broke this sacred day with some criminal act they would be punished.
Okonkwo let his anger and wrath get to the best of him on this week. Ojiugo was okonkwo’s third and youngest wife. She left without permission, and when she arrived home she awaited a near death experience. Okonkwo broke the week of peace and there he was punished by Ezeani, the priest of the earth goddess.

Okonkwo was well known to be the fearless man who was the unsurpassed warrior in all the nine villages. The tribe honored him so much that they made him responsible of sending messages of death and war to the enemy tribe. The tribe was so frightful of okonkwo that they surrendered a virgin woman, with a young lad of their tribe.
The virgin woman was sent to Udo from okonkwo for the remission of his assassinated wife. The very frightful young lad was summoned to okonkwo and his family. The elders of Umuofia decided to let the Ikemfuna remain with okonkwo for a couple of years. A handful of time the young lad tried to escape the tribe, but he had no were to go.

The young lad was so freighted that he tried to escape the very presence of Umuofia. Ikemfuna had delayed all of his meals due to the remembrance of his former family. When Okonkwo found that the young lad wasn’t eating, he took his big stick and hovered over the Ikemfuna as he devoured his food.
Ikemfuna became very popular in the Okonkwo residence. He was the oldest of all the siblings in the household. He was a positive example and a brother of all the children in the compound. Okonkwo began to establish a very close relationship with the young lad and the young lad grew close to his extended father.

The young lad was very equipped in all areas in his life. He was well grounded with outdoor, indoor work. No doubt Okonkwo was starting to have favor with Ikemfuna. Okonkwo was a man that never showed any signs of emotions because that was a sign of weakness.
The bond between okonkwo and Ikemfuna was more than a friendship, but it was a father and son type of relationship. Even though Okonkwo had favor with his new son he treated him like every one else with a heavy and hurtful fist. Indeed Okonkwo started to travel with Ikemfuna to ancestral feasts, and big village meetings. Ikemfuna felt so secure with his new family that he forgot about his former family in the enemy tribe.

When it looked like all the difficulties were upon Okonkwo feature, he looked for Nwakibie for support. Okonkwo had cleared his farm, but had no yams to sow. Okonkwo began to reason with Nwakibie why he should lend him some yams. Back in that age period it was very rare for a man to pay back what he owed. He assured Nwakibie that he loves to work, and he will pay back what he had borrowed.
Okonkwo stood up for himself at an age where kids still received milk from their mother’s breast. So Nwakibie now had a feeling of trust towards the young man. Out of the tenderness of Nwakibie heart he gave okonkwo twice the amount of yams that which he had asked for.

This was the New Year that Okonkwo expected the greatest harvest. This was actually the worst year he had ever experienced. He planted all the yams and was hoping for a good harvest. Things didn’t go as attend, and rain fell like it never felled before.
This harvest was a disaster for the whole entire village. Every man in the tribe awaited a good harvest but favor wasn’t on their side. It was like a funeral as men felted the sharp edge of a sword pierced them in the heart. They had to dig out their most valuable pieces of treasure. It was a year that the entire tribe would never forget.

Despite the worst criticism that Okonkwo received form the entire villages, he grew up into a young and well respectable man. It was very difficult for a child to receive such criticisms and still get out of their situations. Deep in his young soul it took a lot to overcome his circumstances and live a life of prosperity. Okonkwo is known as the greatest, historical wrester in all of the villages.
For a man to have such success he was a representative of the Umuofia tribe. Okonkwo was now amongst the sacred tribal leaders. So much power and strength must have overtook him to know be apart of such dignify people. What a honor it is to read and learn about the culture of Africans.

This is the launch of a great novel that I can't hardly wait to read. In the prime couple of lines Okonkwo and Amalinze were mentioned. No one ever in the History of Umuofia defeated the great cat called Amalinze. Okonkwo deafted Amalinze and was crowned the greatest warror/wrestler in the entire 9 villages.
Okonkwo brought honor and a great future to himself and his village Umuofia. Okonkwo was tall and hairy, and had a temper like a roaring lion. He was a average human being who will murder you for even getting him angry. Despite Okonkwo Dad Unoka, Okonkwo brought great reputation to the village.
